In April of this year the staff at Fleming Homes were 'sent back to school' in an attempt to become accredited designers/manufacturers in the field of timber frame construction.
In just over sixteen weeks of practical insight and theoretical study all of our fabrication operatives and selected members of our design team successfully passed the City and Guilds Timber Frame Designers/Manufacturers Accreditation qualification.
This City and Guilds accreditation programme is coordinated by the UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA) and aims at specifically recognising the various skills and competencies relating to the industry of timber frame construction. Many thanks are passed to the UKTFA for the opportunity and their help through the accreditation programme.
The programme is divided into bronze, silver and gold levels of certification - bronze being for new entrants in the industry, silver for core operatives in the design/manufacture team and gold for senior designers/manufacturers.
I would like to personally congratulate our team for all their hard work and extra efforts in obtaining this certification. All of our fabrication operatives and two of our design technicians are now silver level accredited and a further two of our design technicians are gold level accredited. It is our goal to get all staff to gold level accreditation by 2011 to ensure our product and our service is of the highest possible standard.
We are also actively encouraging all erectors of our timber frame to follow suit and become accredited erectors through this programme. This would ensure that any recommendations we would make to home builders regarding timber frame erectors would be supported by a recognised and trusted qualification which would further promote the quality of our product. Please contact Fleming Homes for more information or visit the UKTFA website.
