Coorie Lodge - A Highland retreat inspired by mid‑century design

Described by Time Out as “the coolest and cosiest holiday rental in all of Scotland”, Coorie Lodge nestles in native woodland with panoramic views over Loch Venachar in the Trossachs. Its owners, Dene and Debbie Happell, have holidayed in the area for years. When their plot allowed them to replace a run‑down garage and workshop, a compact, site‑specific timber frame with big‑hearted glazing became the obvious answer. “We wanted to create a cosy refuge where you can slow down and enjoy the landscape,” says Debbie. The result is a calm, light‑filled home that frames the view and feels as good as it looks.

This home began with a careful translation of the design nuances before the timber frame kit was precision‑made in our Duns factory.

Findara Cottage - Luxury and traditional charm in rural Northumberland

Findara Cottage is the luxurious self‑catering wing of Lowick House, offering a generous, modern interior wrapped in traditional stone in a spectacular rural setting near the Northumberland coast. The flexible timber frame behind the characterful finish makes future‑proofing simple - one building that can evolve with changing needs. “We used the original footprint and a lot of the old stone, giving us the best of both worlds,” says Arthur. “The timber frame arrived on a lorry in sections and then just slotted together.” If you’re craving a stay that blends reclaimed tradition with modern comfort, Findara is a gorgeous escape.

The Bowie - Where nostalgia meets technology

Calling all music lovers and design enthusiasts: The Bowie is more than a place to sleep - it’s an experience. Outside, the timber frame is wrapped in a crisp contemporary envelope; behind the scenes, an air‑source heat pump, solar PV and an EV charger keep things efficient. Inside, expect tech‑savvy comforts alongside mid‑century gems and memorabilia: voice‑controlled lighting and blinds, integrated audio, and a cinema‑ready lounge for a late‑night concert film. It’s a brilliant way to feel how a modern timber frame home can be both characterful and quietly high‑performance.
